Grandchildren from kindergar- ten through high school may par- ticipate in the GrandCamp. The cost is $25 per family. An optional Mass will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. in the chapel. To register call 316-744-0167 or email slc@slcwichita.org. There is a limited number of spots for each grade level. Sharon Witzell, program coor- dinator of Senior Adult Ministries, said cultural pressure is increas- ing, especially on our grandchil- dren. But even in a world of addic- tions, ever-present screens, and gender-identity questions, youth can have clarity and confidence. We must help them attain it. At this three-day GrandCamp for grandparents (or parents) and grandchildren we will enable you to help your grandchildren influ- ence the culture rather than let the culture change them." The camp will consist of sto- ries, crafts, and games. Witzell said grade school stu- dents will learn what it means to be human - they'll learn the gift of being made in the image and like- ness of God, as male and female, and the call to love one another as God loves. Using the uplifting and inspir- ing Theology of the Body from Pope St. John Paul II, they will learn why we are here and how we are to reach our ultimate destiny. It's a culture-changer at any age. Come and help your grandchildren reclaim the dignity of the human person." High school students will learn what it takes to achieve true hap- piness in our culture and how this happiness is related to success, quality of life and love, she said, adding that they will learn how to apply the knowledge they gain to social justice issues of our time.
